Scholarship Description

The California Association of Collectors Educational Scholarship Foundation (CACESF) offers up to $2,500 to high school juniors and seniors in California. The application consists of an essay on the topic of managing college finances; 3 awards are available.

Scholarship Details

  • 3 winners will be chosen to receive $1,500, $2,000, or $2,500 for third, second, and first place awards respectively.
  • Essays must not exceed 1,000 words. The word minimum is 700 words. A word count must be included on the essay document.
  • Semi-finalists' essays will be judged in-person at the annual California Association of Collectors meeting.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be seniors or juniors at a California high school.
  • Applicants must attend an accredited university or trade school within 12 months of their high school graduation.
  • Applicants must follow all essay guidelines for their entry to be considered.
  • Applicants must be willing to attend the annual California Association of Collectors meeting if their essay is chosen to win; travel expenses of the applicant and one parent will be covered by the CACESF.

Application Process

  1. Write an essay on the subject of maintaining good credit through college. Follow the guidelines below to ensure your essay will be considered:
    • Type your essay in a 12-point font, double spaced.
    • Make sure your essay falls between 700 and 1,000 words.
    • Include the essay's word count at the top of the document.
    • Do not include your name or other identifying information on any page of your essay.
  2. Submit your application by the deadline.
  3. If chosen as a semi-finalist, travel to the California Association of Collectors' annual meeting and read your essay for the judging panel.

Photographs and video may be taken of scholarship semifinalists and winners at any CACESF meetings they attend. There may also be media coverage of said events. Judges' decisions are final.
