Scholarship Description

The C.A.R. Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships once a year at the C.A.R. Spring Business Meetings. Students pursuing a real estate related degree at a California college or university may be eligible for an award by the C.A.R. Scholarship Foundation of up to $2,000 for those attending a two-year college and up to $4,000 for those enrolled in a four-year university.

Scholarship Details

  • Scholarships are awarded annually at the C.A.R. Spring Business Meetings
  • Application opens each year on February 1st and remains open for two months
  • The deadline to apply is Sunday, April 5th
  • Awards are up to $2,000 for students at two-year colleges
  • Awards are up to $4,000 for students enrolled at four-year universities
  • More than one hundred scholarships are available each year
  • Students pursuing real estate-related career paths across many majors may qualify

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be pursuing a career in the real estate industry
  • Must be enrolled in a two-year or four-year California college or university
  • Must be taking at least six units at the time of application
  • Must be enrolled in at least one real estate or real estate-related course
  • Must have completed at least twelve college units within the last four years
  • Must have completed at least two real estate or real estate-related courses
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Graduate students are eligible to apply
  • Must be willing to complete an interview with a Scholarship Foundation Trustee
  • Must be willing to provide a video testimonial and written report if selected
  • Must be a legal resident of California for at least one year prior to applying

Application Process

  1. Apply online through the official scholarship portal at https://www.car.org/difference/scholarships
  2. Complete the scholarship application form during the open application period
  3. Submit a copy of a California Driver’s License or other state identification card
  4. Write and upload a typed 300-word essay describing your career objectives
  5. Request official e-transcripts from all colleges or universities attended within the last four years to be emailed directly to scholarship@car.org
  6. Provide two electronic letters of recommendation, including one from a faculty member and one from a REALTOR®
  7. Upload optional proof of current enrollment if your transcript does not list current coursework
  8. Submit any optional unofficial transcripts from institutions attended more than four years ago
  9. Participate in an interview with a Scholarship Foundation Trustee if selected

This scholarship program is for students enrolled at a California College or University pursuing a degree for professions which are centered on, or support a career in real estate transactional activity such as Real Estate Brokerage, Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Management, Real Estate Development, Real Estate Appraisal, Real Estate Planning, Real Estate Law, Commercial Real Estate, and Other fields of study the Trustees believe worthy of consideration.
