The CASFM Undergraduate Scholarship, originally funded by the Urban Watersheds Research Institute, supports undergraduate students in Colorado pursuing degrees in civil engineering or closely related fields. With a $5,000 award available for the academic year, the scholarship aims to promote interest in CASFM’s mission and encourage future professionals in water resources, stormwater management, and related disciplines.
Scholarship Details
- One award of $5,000 for the current academic year
- Open to undergraduate students in civil engineering or closely related fields
- Applicant must be registered for at least 10 credit hours per semester
- Recipient invited to attend the CASFM Conference (includes registration and three nights’ lodging)
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be enrolled in a Colorado college or university
- Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior at the time of application
- Programs of study may include:
- Civil engineering
- Environmental engineering
- Hydrology or hydraulics
- Watershed or floodplain management
- Stormwater management or quality
- Emergency response, meteorology, or climatology
- Previous CASFM Undergraduate Scholarship recipients are not eligible
- Preference given to local applicants
Application Process
- Download and complete the official CASFM Undergraduate Scholarship application form
- Prepare a short essay (up to 500 words) describing personal and career goals and how they align with CASFM’s mission
- Submit the completed application package no later than November 1st
- Three finalists will be selected and notified by November 12th
- Short-listed applicants will participate in a 20-minute interview with the selection panel in mid-November
- Recipient will be notified by December 1st
The scholarship recipient will also have the option to attend the CASFM Conference the following year. Registration and three nights’ lodging at the conference are included if the recipient commits to accepting the award at the CASFM annual lunch meeting at the conference.
