We’re incredibly proud of the young leaders who received scholarships for the current school year through our annual scholarship and summer internship program, made possible by support from the Principal Foundation. The Charlotte Pride Scholarship & Internship Program, generously supported by the Principal Foundation, aims to improve economic mobility for LGBTQ and ally college students from the Charlotte metro area by funding college scholarships and a summer internship opportunity.
Scholarship Details
- Provides college scholarship funding and a summer internship opportunity
- Applicants may apply for either the scholarship or the internship, but not both
- Includes a required personal statement of 500 to 800 words
- Preference is given to students attending college in North or South Carolina
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be from the Charlotte metro area and reside in an eligible county
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Must identify as LGBTQ or as an ally student committed to serving the LGBTQ community
- Must demonstrate significant unmet financial need
- Must be enrolled or intending to enroll at an accredited two-year or four-year college for the 2025–2026 academic year
- Preference is given to full-time students and part-time juniors or seniors
Application Process
- Gather basic demographic information, academic records, and work or extracurricular history
- Prepare unofficial transcripts and your current GPA information
- Compile documentation of community involvement and service to the LGBTQ community
- Write a personal statement of 500 to 800 words describing your goals, experiences, and financial need
- Submit your completed application and supporting materials by the program deadline
Applicants may apply for an internship OR scholarship, but not both. We suggest that you compile all the information you will need to complete the application, including basic demographic data (name, address, age, etc.), high school/college GPA and transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable), work history, community involvements, and extracurricular activities (you may submit a resume), and one personal statement of 500-800 words.
