Scholarship Description

The Cherokee Nation College Resource Center offers a variety of scholarship programs to support registered Cherokee citizens pursuing higher education. These programs are designed to assist students working toward their first Associate's, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree. In addition, the Stole Program provides recognition for students graduating with a degree from an accredited institution. Below are the details of each scholarship program and the application process.

Undergraduate Scholarship

  • Open to registered Cherokee citizens working toward their first Associate's or Bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicants must apply for the federal PELL grant.

At Large Undergraduate Scholarship

  • Open to registered Cherokee citizens living outside of the reservation and working toward their first Associate's or Bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicants must apply for the federal PELL grant.

Graduate Scholarship

  • Open to registered Cherokee citizens seeking their first Master's or Doctorate degree.
  • Applicants living outside the Cherokee Nation Reservation or Contiguous area are not eligible.
  • Proprietary institutions are not eligible for this scholarship.

Stole Program

  • The Stole Program recognizes students graduating with a degree and offers Cherokee Nation citizens the opportunity to receive a graduation stole for one Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree.
  • Students graduating from high school, vocational programs, or proprietary schools are not eligible.
  • The student is responsible for obtaining permission from their institution to wear the stole during commencement.
  • Applications must be submitted at the beginning of the final semester via the Gadugi Portal.
