Our Scholarship for Researchers Committed to Advancing CHD Research in Underrepresented Communities aims to support individuals who are dedicated to conducting research on congenital heart defects and improving the health outcomes of underrepresented and disadvantaged populations.
Scholarship Details
- Two $10,000 scholarships awarded this year
- Funds sent directly to the degree program and applied toward tuition and approved educational expenses
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an incoming or current graduate student (Master’s or PhD) in a research-focused program (e.g., MPH, MSW, MSN, MSCI, PhD)
- Applicants in dual degree programs (e.g., MD/MPH) are eligible
- Must demonstrate a commitment to translational or clinical CHD research focused on racial and ethnic minority populations
- Priority consideration given to applicants from NIH-defined underrepresented minority backgrounds
Application Process
- Prepare a Statement of Interest (maximum 3 pages) that includes your interest in CHD research, past research accomplishments, future goals, and how this scholarship supports your career development
- Submit your Curriculum Vitae or Resume
- Obtain and submit one Letter of Support from an academic advisor or mentor who can speak to your potential in CHD research
- Submit all application materials through Proposal Central by the posted deadline
This scholarship is designed to partially offset the cost of formal graduate-level research training for applicants pursuing a Master’s (e.g., MPH, MSW, MSN, MSCI, MS) or PhD degree, with a focus on translational or clinical research in CHDs and underrepresented communities.
