Scholarship Description

The Cobell Scholarship offers a range of scholarships available for our undergraduate, postgraduate, and fellowship applicants. Each scholarship aims to support recipients in achieving their goals throughout their academic pursuits.

Scholarship Details

  • Supports students pursuing associate (AA) or bachelor’s (BA/BS) degrees
  • Must attend a nonprofit public or private institution listed in the application system
  • Application is open annually from December 15 to March 31
  • A reference is required as part of the application process

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be an enrolled member of a U.S. Federally-recognized American Indian Tribe or Alaska Native Corporation
  • Must be pursuing a first-time associate or bachelor’s degree
  • Cannot have already earned a degree at the same level for which funding is requested
  • Must attend an eligible nonprofit institution listed in the application system
  • Demonstrate leadership and academic potential

Application Process

  1. Log into the OASIS portal during the open application period (December 15 to March 31)
  2. Complete the Profile section with your demographic information and read the acknowledgements
  3. Fill out the Eligibility section to be matched with the appropriate application
  4. Complete the Undergraduate Scholarship application if you have not yet earned a bachelor’s degree
  5. Upload required documents and submit a reference as instructed
  6. Review the Frequently Asked Questions for tips on selection and awarding

This program is a legacy scholarship in the name of Elouise “Yellow Bird Woman” Cobell. All applicants should read the documents linked in “Our History” and “Elouise Cobell” in order to best respond to all question prompts in the application.
