Scholarship Description

College Now provides scholarship opportunities to adult students age 19 and above who have interrupted their education for at least one year and who are pursuing a non-degree certificate or license in a vocational or technical program, an associate's degree, or first bachelor's degree.

Scholarship Details

  • Award amounts generally range from $1,500 to $2,000 per academic year
  • Scholarship is renewable for up to five years or ten semesters
  • Awards are based on at least half-time enrollment
  • Funds are split between fall and spring semesters

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age 19 or older
  • High school graduate or GED recipient
  • Education interrupted for at least two academic semesters
  • Qualifies for the Federal Pell Grant
  • Resident of Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, or Wayne County in Northeast Ohio
  • Pursuing a vocational or technical certificate, associate degree, or first bachelor’s degree
  • Not previously completed a bachelor’s degree
  • Attending a public or private not-for-profit Pell-eligible institution

Application Process

  1. Complete the online scholarship application
  2. Submit two essays of 300 to 500 words each addressing educational goals and personal challenges
  3. Provide the most recent official or unofficial college transcript if applicable
  4. Upload a copy of the FAFSA Submission Summary or Pell Grant eligibility confirmation
  5. If selected, submit a Financial Aid Award Offer from your college

Award amounts vary based on eligibility requirements, but are generally $1,500-$2,000 per academic year. Please note that this amount is based on the assumption that students will be enrolled at least half-time (6 or more credit hours) for both fall and spring semesters. The annual award will be split in half between fall and spring semesters.
