The Colonel Nate Smith Scholarship is available only to Marines and Sailors (and their dependents) currently stationed at MCRD San Diego/The Western Recruiting Region. Applicants must be high school graduates and currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. Award recipients will be chosen by the Selection Committee based on academic performance, extracurricular activities and future potential.
Scholarship Details
- Three $2,000 scholarships awarded annually

- Open to high school seniors and graduates enrolling in undergraduate or graduate programs
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an enlisted Marine, Sailor, or their dependent
- Must be assigned to Marine Corps Recruit Depot/Western Recruiting Region
- Must be a high school senior or graduate
- Must provide proof of enrollment in a college undergraduate or graduate program
Application Process
- Complete the Colonel Nate Smith Scholarship application form
- Prepare documentation of academic performance and enrollment in a degree program
- Compile information on community service and extracurricular activities
- Application deadline is September 30th

Scholarship recipients will be notified shortly after the application deadline and will be recognized at an awards ceremony at MCRD San Diego (if able to attend).
