Students receive financial aid from a variety of sources. You may be eligible for assistance from the federal or state government, civic or church groups, your parents’ employer or union, or colleges themselves. The beginning of your senior year in high school is the best time to start inquiring about financial aid. Your best sources of information are the financial aid offices at the colleges you wish to attend. As you research colleges, make sure to visit each college's financial aid webpage. Make a note of all deadlines, and what financial aid forms are required.
The Roberta B. Willis Need-Based Grant Program is a state-funded initiative designed to support high-achieving, college-bound Connecticut high school students. The Program requires eligible high school students to rank in the top 20 percent of their junior year class (upon graduation for all others) and/or have a combined score of 1200 or better on the SAT or have an ACT score of 25 or better. The student must attend a four-year Connecticut public or non-profit private college, except for Wesleyan University and Yale University. Applicants must submit the FAFSA to apply. Awards are offered to full-time students in 2- or 4- year programs of study. The number of awards will vary.
