- U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- High school or college student
- Not immediately related to a significant Coolidge Foundation donor
Application Process
- Create an account on the Coolidge Presidential Foundation website
- Compose an argumentative essay following the Foundation's guidelines:
- Discuss whether the protectionist Jones Act of 1920 was successful
- High school division essays should be fewer than 1,100 words
- College division essays should be fewer than 1,500 words
- Provide citations for your essay (which will not count towards the word limit)
- Use the application portal to submit your essay in advance of the deadline
Winners' essays will be published in the Coolidge Review, official magazine of the Coolidge Foundation.
