The Count Basie Center's Arts Impact Scholarships and Awards are available to Monmouth County high school seniors who plan to continue their education after graduation. This scholarship recognizes students whose experiences with the arts, community involvement, and future goals demonstrate meaningful personal impact.
Scholarship Details
- Recipients receive a one-time, $2,500 scholarship to apply towards higher education
- Open to all students in NJ whose parent/guardian is an employee of Hackensack Meridian Health
- Scholarship recipients will be acknowledged at a private reception
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be high school seniors in Monmouth County
- Students with experience in any art form are eligible to apply
- Applicants may have any level of arts experience, from a single impactful experience to many years of formal study or participation.
- Applicants may pursue or participate in a wide range of artistic disciplines, including acting, photography, dance, vocal performance, music, graphic design, filmmaking, and more
Application Process
- Complete the required personal information portion of the application
- Prepare a one-page personal resume that includes work history, volunteer experience, awards received, and extracurricular activities
- Obtain two letters of recommendation that specifically address the Arts Impact Scholarship
- Submit one recommendation letter supporting your work in the arts
- Submit a second recommendation letter supporting your academic education or your contribution to the community through volunteer efforts, work commitments, leadership activities, personal responsibilities, or similar experiences
- Write a personal statement of at least 200 words describing your contributions to the community and the impact those efforts have had on your life
- Write an essay of at least 500 words explaining how your life has been impacted by the arts. Include an introduction and conclusion, and discuss your arts experiences, their influence on your thinking, relationships, and work ethic, how they have shaped your view of the world, and your future goals and career aspirations
- Review all submission materials to ensure they are complete and address the requirements of the Arts Impact Scholarship

Whether you had one impactful experience, or have been taking classes for years, or if you are an actor, photographer, folk/cultural dancer, vocalist, musician, graphic designer, filmmaker or beyond, please consider applying.
