Scholarship Description

The Dennis Raveling Scholarship is awarded annually to a student(s) with a desire to pursue a career in waterfowl or wetlands ecology. Awards are based on the candidate's resolve, high academic achievement and project merit. Candidates must be pursuing an advanced university degree in wildlife, zoology, botany, ecology or other pertinent biological science.

Scholarship Details

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be pursuing or planning to pursue an advanced university degree (master’s or PhD)
  • Field of study must relate to wildlife, zoology, botany, ecology, or another pertinent biological science
  • Applicants must demonstrate strong academic performance and clear career goals in waterfowl or wetlands research
  • Must propose an original research project with practical applications for conservation management
  • Must have faculty sponsorship and professional references supporting the application

Application Process

  1. Prepare a one-page, single-spaced proposal summary describing your original research project and its conservation relevance
  2. Write a brief statement of interest explaining your academic and professional goals in waterfowl or wetlands ecology
  3. Prepare a current CV or resume detailing education, research experience, and relevant skills
  4. Obtain a letter of support from a faculty member willing to sponsor your research
  5. Provide names and phone numbers of two references (at least one should be a university instructor or past supervisor)
  6. Compile all materials into a single application package and submit by December 15th

Applicants should be prepared to submit a detailed project proposal if requested. The scholarship is intended to support field experience and training in the tools, methods and concepts of waterfowl and wetlands research and management.
