Scholarship Description

The Donald A. Strauss Scholarship Foundation awards $15,000 to as many as 15 outstanding students to pursue their projects of public service and social change. The Donald A. Strauss Scholarship Foundation awarded its first Scholarships in April 1997.

Scholarship Details

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must have completed at least one year of college
  • Must not graduate before June
  • Must show interest in making a difference through public service

Application Process

  1. Prepare and save each of the following documents as separate PDFs using the required naming format: Application Summary, Resume, Personal Essay, Project Proposal, Transcript(s), and Signed Acceptance Agreement
  2. Submit all six documents through the submission portal by the application deadline
  3. Ensure two Letters of Recommendation and an optional Letter of Support are emailed directly by the letter writers from their official organizational email addresses
  4. Attend the mandatory recipient meeting if selected and serve as a Strauss Ambassador on your campus

The Donald A. Strauss Foundation promotes the value of public service in the education and preparation of our future leaders by financing innovative student-generated projects. A central part of the application package is a proposal for a project to be carried out between the end of the sophomore or junior year, and the spring of the following year; these proposals shall become a major focus of the selection process.
