The Dora Maclellan Brown Ministry Scholarships are among the most unique in the country. Named in honor and memory of the founder of The Generosity Trust, these scholarships have been awarded since 1965 to students from the greater Chattanooga area who are studying for current or future ministry service.
Scholarship Details
- For graduate-level theological or seminary education (no doctoral students)
- Applies to Bible colleges, seminaries, or similar graduate programs
- Funds are paid directly to the student’s institution and applied to their account
- Awarded for the duration of the program (typically 2–3 years)
- Funded annually by The Generosity Trust Board of Directors
- Application deadline is February 15 at 5:00 p.m. EST
- Finalists are invited to in-person interviews in early April
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be theologically and Biblically conservative
- Must be pursuing a master’s degree (not a doctoral degree)
- Must plan to enter full- or part-time vocational Christian ministry
- Acceptable areas include pastoral ministry, international missions, biblical counseling, and related service fields
- Must consider the greater Chattanooga area as home (see detailed geographic guidelines)
Application Process
- Complete the official scholarship application by February 15th at 5:00 p.m. EST
- Submit required documents as outlined on the application portal
- Await notification of invitation to an in-person interview, held in early April
- Participate in the interview if selected
- Scholarship recipients will be notified following the interview process
