Applicants of the Dr. Charles T. Battle Jr Memorial Scholarship must: be a graduating senior attending a high school in Upstate South Carolina; be accepted, and enroll in the fall semester following his/her high school graduation, into an accredited technical college or four year college or university; and must submit a completed Application Packet no later than the deadline date provided on the application. Application packet shall include: A completed application form; Two reference letters; A certified copy of their high school transcript through end of student's junior year; A biographical statement about education background, financial need, and any other pertinent information; and an essay on the topic “How this scholarship will help me further my educational goals.”
In 1998, the Rho Delta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. created a scholarship fund in honor of one of its charter members, Dr. Charles T. Battle Jr. to continue his desire to assure that all youths are provided an opportunity to continue his/her education by going to college. Four or more scholarships are awarded each year. Dr. Charles Tecumseh Battle, Jr., a native of Mobile, Alabama received a B.S. degree from Alabama State University where he was a charter member of the Beta Upsilon Chapter.
