The Dr. Lorraine G. Spranzo Memorial Scholarship was initiated in 1996 by the New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing Alumni & Associates, Inc. in honor of Dr. Lorraine G. Spranzo (aka Lorrie Keller), a 1967 graduate of this school of nursing, which operated from 1908 until 1974. Dr. Spranzo was, at the time of her death, an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of Maryland and a research scholar, having earned her PhD in Policy Sciences in the field of nursing informatics.

- Master's-level nursing programs must be accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a graduate student matriculated in an accredited graduate nursing program or a doctoral candidate pursuing a PhD, DNP, or EdD at a Connecticut college or university
- Must have completed at least 12 credits in the graduate-level program
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Master's-level candidates enrolled in programs that are not accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE are not eligible
- PhD and EdD candidates in programs related to nursing practice or education may apply
