To be eligible for the Dream Big Scholarship, applicants must: be a high school senior at high school located in Metro-Detroit; be a US citizen; have a 2.75 GPA; and be accepted into an accredited post secondary educational institution in the United States for the upcoming fall semester. The top candidates will be interviewed via telephone or Zoom. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed or considered. Essays that do not meet the minimum word count requirement will not be reviewed. Teacher/counselor recommendation letters are favorable but not required.
Detroit Speaks prides itself in providing youth with the necessary tools and resources to succeed in both college and careers. Funds can be used towards tuition, school supplies, books and other costs directly associated with college preparation. Proof of acceptance/enrollment will be required from the top candidates.
