The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) awards the $4,500 E. Richard Booser Scholarship, which includes a research term, to 1 undergraduate student each year; $3,000 will be awarded upon receipt, and the remaining $1,500 will be awarded when the student completes their research report. This award aims to enhance the tribology workforce by encouraging undergraduates to pursue careers in the field.
Scholarship Details
- Students may only win the Booser award once
- Previous recipients of non-Booser STLE awards may apply
- Applicants do not need to be STLE members
- Winners' research reports will be published in the STLE magazine
Eligibility Criteria
- Undergraduate student
- Enrolled in a science or engineering program
- Interest in tribology
- Not a previous Booser award recipient
Application Process
- Gather all required documents, including:
- Faculty letter of recommendation
- Research proposal
- Navigate to the Booser Scholarship application on STLE's Submittable page
- Fill out the application and upload supplemental documents
- Submit all materials in advance of the deadline
- If chosen as a recipient, submit your research report at the end of your research term to claim the full award
Applications for the STLE E. Richard Booser scholarship will be accepted from September 1st to December 1st. The winner will be notified of their status by January 30th and their research report will be due the following December 31st. All STLE award winners will be recognized at the STLE Annual Meeting in May.
