The Elizabeth Anne Ala Scholarship awards a scholarship to a graduating senior of any high school in Garland ISD that has participated and excelled in the bilingual studies/ESL program. The scholarship may be used for tuition, fees and books at any accredited college or university in the United States or its possessions. Eligible applicants must have a minimum 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, have achieved a 3.5 or greater cumulative GPA in all bilingual/ESL classes and must be U.S. Citizens or documented legal residents of the United States.
Selection criteria include academic excellence in bilingual studies, school and community participation, demonstrated leadership potential, essay response, letters of recommendation and financial need. All Applicants will be required to submit a short essay and two letters of recommendation and complete the FAFSA in order to complete the Financial Need Section of the General Application.
