The Emmy Noether Awards seek top aspiring female research scientists in any STEM field. The program provides financial support, mentorship, and networking opportunities to help them pursue research-focused STEM careers.
Scholarship Details
- One Gold Medalist award of up to $75,000 distributed over three years for a qualified research-based graduate program
- Two Silver Medalist awards of $25,000 each for a qualified research-based graduate program
- Up to ten Emmy Noether Scholars receive $2,000 upon college enrollment
- Scholars gain access to a network of young female research scientists
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a female high school senior
- Must live in or attend school in Louisiana or Mississippi
- Must have an ACT score of 28 or higher
- Must intend to pursue a research-based STEM graduate degree such as a Ph.D. or research-focused M.S.
- Career goals must align with research-focused STEM fields such as laboratory science, engineering research, or academic research roles
- Students pursuing clinical or professional healthcare careers are not eligible
Application Process
- Review eligibility requirements to confirm alignment with a research-based STEM career path
- Gather academic records and standardized test scores demonstrating eligibility
- Prepare application materials as outlined by the Brown Foundation
- Submit the completed application through the designated Emmy Noether Awards application portal
- Await notification regarding scholar, silver medalist, or gold medalist selection
Students planning to pursue clinical or professional healthcare careers – such as physicians (M.D.), physician assistants, nurses (R.N.), dentists, pharmacists, physical or occupational therapists, or veterinarians – are not eligible for this award. The program supports students pursuing research-based STEM graduate degrees only. If you are selected for this scholarship and later choose to pursue one of the careers listed above, you will no longer be eligible to receive the award.
