FGBC began the program to foster our state’s future of sustainability in the built environment and promote educational opportunities for individuals to build successful construction careers within the green building industry.
Scholarship Details
- Multiple scholarships of $1,000 awarded each year
- Open to students pursuing careers in green building, sustainable design, or related disciplines
- Supports FGBC’s mission to promote sustainability through education and certification
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident and a resident of Florida
- Must be currently attending a Florida public or private college or university entering junior or senior year of undergraduate study or enrolled in a graduate or qualifying trade school program
- Must be pursuing a field related to sustainability in the built environment
- Must have a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA
Application Process
- Download and complete the official FGBC Scholarship Application
- Prepare a narrative (maximum 500 words) outlining your academic background, interests, goals, and commitment to sustainability
- Include two letters of reference: one from an academic instructor and one character reference
- Submit a transcript from your current or most recent academic institution (mature students may contact the committee for alternatives)
- Email the complete application package to C. J. Davila, Executive Director, with subject line “2025 FGBC Sustainability Award Application” by April 30th
Depending on the number of applicants, multiple scholarships of $1,000 are offered. Applications are accepted in April each year. Finalists are announced in the Spring.
