The Frank and Brennie Morgan Prize stands to recognize and encourage outstanding mathematical research by undergraduate students. It was endowed by Mrs. Frank Morgan of Allentown, PA. The prize is $1,200.
Scholarship Details
- Each recipient receives a $1,200 award and a certificate.
- If the winning research is completed jointly, the cash award is divided among the recipients.
- Travel expenses and meeting registration may be covered if no other funding is available.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must have been undergraduate students at a college or university in Canada, Mexico, the United States, or its possessions during December of the year before nomination.
- Nominations may be submitted by any individual, including the student through self-nomination.
- Each nomination must include one or more research papers and at least one letter of support, typically from a faculty member familiar with the student's research.
- The research must have been submitted to a journal, a mathematics department, or an online archive such as arXiv before the student's graduation.
Application Process
- Prepare the research paper or papers that will support the nomination.
- Obtain at least one letter of support from a faculty member or another individual familiar with the research.
- Complete the nomination, either through a nominator or by self-nominating.
- Submit all required materials during the nomination period.
- Wait for the AMS-MAA-SIAM Joint Committee on the Morgan Prize to review nominations and select recipients.
