The Gerber Foundation Medallion Scholarship is available to students graduating from select school districts in Newaygo County, Michigan. School districts include Fremont, Grant, Hesperia, Newaygo and White Cloud. GPA must be 3.85 or higher. Home schooled students within these districts are eligible. Selection is made based on overall academic achievements, recommendations, leadership qualities, and involvement in diverse curricular, extracurricular, and community activities.
Scholarship Details
- Award value of $11,500 for post-secondary education expenses
- Open to students from Fremont, Grant, Hesperia, Newaygo, and White Cloud High Schools, including home-schooled students in these districts
- For use towards tuition, books, course fees, tools, or equipment
Eligibility Criteria
- GPA of 3.85 or above (higher of weighted or unweighted)
- Attending an accredited post-secondary program in the US leading to a degree or certification
- Students planning to attend federal military/maritime academies or foreign exchange students are not eligible
Application Process
- Submit educational information, personal statement, one letter of recommendation, and a counselor grade report by February 28 at 4 pm ET
- Monitor the status of uploads from recommenders and counselors in the online application system
- Selection based on academic achievements and evaluations of personal statements and recommendation letters
Applicants for this scholarship will be students planning to attend an accredited post-secondary program in the US leading to a baccalaureate or associate degree, or a vocational or technical training program leading to a certificate. Students planning to attend one of the federal military or maritime academies and foreign exchange students are not eligible to apply. The application submission deadline is February 28 of each year at 4pm ET.
