The Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois program is a teacher preparation and tuition assistance program for high school seniors and freshman and sophomore Illinois college students who have the determination and drive to be highly effective teachers in Illinois schools-of-need. We are prepare aspiring teachers for immediate and lasting success in the most challenging teaching environments. The list of eligible Illinois colleges and universities can be found on our website. Scholarship winners must teach for five years in an Illinois school-of-need within seven years of graduation.
In addition to financial assistance for college, scholars will also receive: Extensive classroom teaching experience, academic and social-emotional support, job placement assistance, and mentoring from award-winning teaching faculty. Applicants must first complete online application including references and personal statements, and upload their unofficial transcripts. Applicants must be high school seniors or college freshmen or sophomores at partner universities in Illinois at the time of application. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA, and they must be a U.S. citizen, eligible non-citizen or DACAmented student.
