The HBCU Week x Michael S. Purzycki Changemaker Scholarship supports students attending a Historically Black College or University. Selection for the scholarship considers academic accomplishments, financial need and community involvement. Recipients must continue to meet the scholarship's requirements each semester.
Scholarship Details
- The scholarship award is $10,000
- Funds may be used for tuition, room and board
- HBCU Week Foundation, Inc. administers scholarship funding to participating universities
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States
- Must be a resident of the State of Delaware
- Must have completed or be completing high school with a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Must be entering freshman year of college
- Must attend a Historically Black College or University
- Must demonstrate financial need
Application Process
- Complete the scholarship application electronically
- Provide your most recent, verifiable high school transcript, which may be subject to authentication
- Disclose any potential conflict of interest before the selection process
- Submit the completed application and required documentation
- Recipients will be notified by June 1st by phone or email and will receive an award letter by email
Students who meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply for the Changemaker Scholarship to help fund their college education. This award can be used to help fund important educational expenses such as tuition, room and board.
