The Hudson County Bar Foundation (HCBF) Scholarship is available to law students who reside in Hudson County, NJ and are currently enrolled in or admitted to an ABA-accredited law school. Scholarship Details
- Available to students enrolled in or admitted to an ABA-accredited law school
- Applicants must reside in Hudson County, NJ
- Award amount is determined at the discretion of the HCBF Scholarship Committee
- All application materials must be submitted via email by April 14th
- Incomplete or late applications will not be considered
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a resident of Hudson County, NJ (proof required)
- Must be enrolled in or admitted to an ABA-accredited law school
- Must submit all required documents including transcripts, personal statement, and tax information
- Must provide two letters of recommendation (excluding family members)
- Must include a financial aid award letter or letter stating ineligibility for aid
Application Process

- Prepare a typed and signed personal statement (maximum two pages, double spaced)
- Obtain an official transcript (college for 1Ls, law school for continuing students)
- Submit proof of Hudson County residency (e.g., utility bill, driver’s license)
- Provide a financial aid award letter or confirmation of ineligibility
- Include a copy of your most recent Federal 1040 tax form (and spouse’s if applicable)
- Secure two signed letters of recommendation addressing academic and professional merit
