HUMAA’s mission is to support the Howard University College of Medicine (HUCM). This mission is accomplished by giving scholarships to medical students, providing long white coats for the graduating seniors, sponsoring the annual welcome luncheon for the freshmen, organizing a monthly alumni speaker series to mentor and educate current students on the range of career options available, and endowing a Chair in Basic Sciences at HUCM.
Howard University Medical Alumni Association (HUMAA) provides scholarships to Howard University College of Medicine students through its endowed scholarship funds and in accordance with HUMAA's bylaws to 'support the welfare of medical students'. HUMAA manages over one hundred scholarships which benefit students at Howard University College of Medicine. In 2021, HUMAA distributed nearly $250,000 to students to help with housing, transportation, fees, tuition and cost of living.
