Scholarship Description

This program is open to any U.S. high school student or community college student transferring to a 4 year university, with an interest in a career in transportation and seeking to study transportation engineering, planning, or in a related-field at a school with an established ITE Student Chapter. Preference will be given to first generation college students and low household income. An objective of the University Scholars Program is to help those with the greatest need.

Scholarship Details

  • Up to $4,000 awarded annually for up to five years of undergraduate enrollment
  • Includes mentoring, internship opportunities, and engagement with an ITE Student Chapter
  • One scholarship awarded annually
  • Student must enroll at a university with an established ITE Student Chapter

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a U.S. high school senior or community college student transferring to a four year university
  • Must plan to pursue a career in transportation engineering, transportation planning, or a closely related field
  • Must enroll at a university with an ITE Student Chapter
  • Preference given to first generation college students and students from low household income backgrounds
  • Priority given to applicants eligible for Pell Grants, though non Pell eligible students will also be considered
  • Must maintain acceptable academic progress and meet minimum GPA standards to remain in the program

Application Process

  1. Confirm your interest in pursuing a career in transportation engineering, planning, or a related field
  2. Ensure the university you plan to attend has an established ITE Student Chapter
  3. Complete and submit the ITE University Scholars Program application
  4. If selected, maintain academic progress and meet program standards to continue receiving annual funding

One (1) scholarship will be awarded annually to an eligible graduating high school senior or community college student committed to pursuing a career in transportation engineering, planning or closely related field. The student must enroll in a University with an ITE Student Chapter. Those who are accepted into the ITE University Scholars Program are eligible to continue in the program, so long as they maintain acceptable progress toward graduation in the field of transportation engineering, planning, or a related field, and fulfill the minimum established standards for GPA (specific criteria listed under eligibility requirements).
