The It’s My Heart New England CHD Awareness College Scholarship Program supports students affected by Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) by providing financial assistance for higher education. This scholarship aims to encourage academic success and CHD awareness through advocacy and education. At least four scholarships of $1,500 each will be awarded in the upcoming year.
Scholarship Details
- Award amount is $1,500
- At least four scholarships will be awarded
- Open to high school seniors and enrolled college students
- Recipients will be announced at the Annual Keep the Beat CHD Awareness Walk at the end of June
Eligibility Criteria
- Must meet one of the following:
- Diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD)
- Recipient of a heart transplant
- Family member of someone diagnosed with CHD (sibling, child, parent, or close relative)
- Must be a resident of one of the New England states
- Must be a high school senior or an enrolled college student with a minimum 2.5 GPA
- Must be accepted full- or part-time at an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university, or technical school in the United States
- Must not have received the CHD Scholarship in the past two years
Application Process
- Download and complete the scholarship application form
- Prepare the required documents:
- One letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, teacher, employer, or unrelated adult
- An essay (1-2 pages) describing how CHD has affected your life and how you promote CHD awareness
- A copy of your transcript (can be mailed separately)
- Mail the completed application and required documents
- Ensure all materials are postmarked by March 26th
