The JWOF "Powerful Women…Next Generation" 4-Year Scholarship supports first or second-generation Jamaican-American female high school seniors graduating from a Florida high school and planning to attend a post-secondary institution. Valued at $5,000, this scholarship helps cover tuition, books, and other college expenses, empowering young women to achieve their educational goals.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a first or second-generation Jamaican-American female
  • High school senior graduating from a Florida high school
  • Planning to attend a post-secondary institution in the Fall
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (verified by school transcript)
  • Minimum of 40 hours of volunteer work in community projects

Application Process

  1. Complete an essay (up to 1200 words) explaining why you should be awarded this scholarship
  2. Submit a high school transcript showing a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
  3. Provide proof of community service (at least 40 hours)
  4. Include two letters of recommendation (one from a teacher, guidance counselor, or administrator)
  5. Submit a resume, a signed photograph, and personal contact information (name, date of birth, address, telephone, email)

JWOF’s goal is to subsidize the cost of tuition, books or other college-related expenses incurred at the institution.
