The James Bridenbaugh Memorial Scholarship supports sophomore, junior and senior students who are pursuing a career in floral design and marketing of fresh flowers and plants. All applications require a current email address, a permanent address, and a current address. Each student will get an email receipt of their application when it has been received.
Scholarship Details
- Supports students pursuing careers in floral design and the marketing of fresh flowers and plants
- Available to eligible college sophomores, juniors, and seniors
- American Floral Endowment scholarship awards generally range from $500 to $5,000
- Scholarship funds are issued jointly in the names of the recipient and the college or institution the student will attend in the fall
- Students may apply for up to six qualifying American Floral Endowment scholarships
- Scholarship recipients are notified by July 1st
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a college sophomore, junior, or senior
- Must be pursuing a career in floral design and the marketing of fresh flowers and plants
- Must be pursuing an eligible floriculture or horticulture-related field
- Must meet all additional requirements established by the American Floral Endowment scholarship program
Application Process

- Complete the American Floral Endowment scholarship application.
- Provide a current email address, permanent address, and current address.
- Upload all documents and information requested as part of the application.
- Select the scholarships for which you qualify, with a maximum of six AFE scholarships per application.
- Review the application carefully before making the final submission.
- Submit the completed application by the American Floral Endowment's published deadline.
Jim Bridenbaugh was a specialist in fresh flowers and plants, designing and commentating at design shows and seminars. His floral industry knowledge, comedic storytelling and audience rapport made him a favorite. Jim served as OFA president from 1989 to 1991.
