Scholarship Description

Since 2009, the JSR Foundation has provided scholarship support to landscape architecture students throughout the Rocky Mountain Region (Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Nevada), and has historically recognized exceptional student projects.

Scholarship Details

  • Scholarship awards up to $2,500 determined by the Jane Silverstein Ries Foundation Board
  • Two tracks available: Student Project or Community Service
  • Student Project track recognizes completed projects demonstrating excellence in landscape architecture
  • Community Service track supports student work with organizations needing design or research assistance
  • Travel stipends may be available for out-of-state awardees to present at the ASLA Annual Gathering

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a student enrolled in an accredited landscape architecture program (BLA or MLA)
  • Open to students from Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, and Nevada
  • Only individual submissions are accepted; one entry per student in either track
  • Relatives and collaborators of jury members are not eligible to apply

Application Process

  1. Download and complete the JSR Scholarship application form
  2. Prepare your submission based on the selected track
  3. Highlight how your project meets the specific judging criteria for your chosen track
  4. Email your completed application and all supporting materials
  5. Note any special circumstances or travel needs within your application form

The competition is open to all students of an accredited landscape architecture program (BLA or MLA). Only individual submissions will be accepted, and each student is permitted one entry in either category (project or service). Collaborators and associates of members of the jury, and their relatives up to the third degree may not enter the competition.
