The National Cartoonists Society Foundation is the charitable arm of the National Cartoonists Society. The NCS Foundation was formed in 2005 to continue the charitable and educational works that have been a hallmark of the NCS since its inception in 1946.
Scholarship Details

Eligibility Criteria
- Open to students at 4-year colleges in the United States, Canada, or Mexico who will be Junior or Senior students during the next academic year.
- Art majors are not required; all majors are eligible for this scholarship.
Application Process
- Complete the entry form.
- Submit 8 samples of your original cartooning artwork (copies only), specifying any prior publications, whether in print or online.
- Ensure not to send original artwork; copies are accepted.
- Your scholarship application will be evaluated by the National Cartoonists Society Foundation (NCSF), with the number of scholarships and their amounts determined at the NCSF's discretion.
The Jay Kennedy Memorial Scholarship is an annual award established in memory of Jay Kennedy, the late King Features comics editor, from an initial grant from the Hearst Foundation/King Features Syndicate and additional generous donations from other prominent cartoonists.
