Scholarship Description

Through the Brawerman Fellowship, we develop and sustain a talent pool of Jewish young leaders for our community in perpetuity. The Fellowship provides an annual college scholarship of $15,000 (for up to 4 years), as well as participation in a larger program that builds leadership skills and further strengthens Fellows? connection to Jewish life through retreats, a trip to Israel, and other overseas opportunities.

Scholarship Details

  • $15,000 annual college scholarship, renewable for up to four years
  • Leadership development programming throughout the fellowship
  • Participation in retreats, an Israel trip, and other overseas opportunities
  • Administered by the Geri & Brawerman Leadership Institute of JFEDLA
  • Awarded to a select cohort of outstanding students each year

Eligibility

  • High school senior residing in Los Angeles County for at least three years
  • Attending a four-year accredited college beginning in the fall
  • Minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Significant leadership experience and community service record
  • Must identify as Jewish
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Application Process

  1. Review fellowship eligibility requirements
  2. Complete the online application provided by the Geri & Brawerman Leadership Institute
  3. Submit documentation of financial need
  4. Provide academic records confirming a minimum 3.5 GPA
  5. Submit required materials highlighting leadership and community involvement
  6. Await further instructions regarding interviews or supplemental steps

The Brawerman Fellows not only receive a significant college scholarship, but also receive training and a lasting connection to Judaism through retreats, a trip to Israel, and local and overseas community service opportunities.
