The Joseph M. Fannell Memorial Foundation was established in the wake of Joseph’s death to continue his life and memory by creating and supporting programs to help young people overcome obstacles and reach their full potential, especially in the arts.
Scholarship Details
- Supports incoming college students studying creative or performing arts
- Two scholarships of $2,000 are awarded each year
- One award is designated for Creative Arts and one for Performing Arts
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a graduating U.S. high school senior in the class of the current school year, including home schooled students
- Must demonstrate interest in and commitment to the creative or performing arts
- Must intend to enroll in an accredited two-year or four-year U.S. college or university
- Must be pursuing higher education in the academic year following the application date
- Only one application per student is permitted
Application Process
- Prepare the required scholarship essay and save it as a PDF
- Gather all required documentation including an official high school transcript
- Obtain a letter of recommendation and save it as a PDF
- Include a college or university letter of acceptance in PDF format
The purpose of the JMF Memorial Scholarship is to meet a portion of the financial need of a Black/African-American student who has a passion for the performing or creative arts and embodies the values and mission of JMF.
