The Joseph H. Weingart Memorial Educational Scholarship, established by the New England Center for the Deaf, Inc., aims to assist Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals in meeting their financial obligations for educational institutions in the United States. This scholarship supports skill building, job enhancement, and increasing knowledge and abilities through accredited educational programs. One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded annually and paid directly to the recipient’s educational institution upon proof of admission.
Scholarship Details
- One $1,000 scholarship awarded annually
- Funds are paid directly to the educational institution and can only be used for tuition
- Open to applicants of all ages, races, religions, gender identities, education levels, and disabilities
- Scholarship may not be applied toward current or past expenses
- Applicants who are not selected may reapply the following year
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Applicant must have applied to, been accepted at, and plan to attend an approved educational institution
- Must be a legal resident of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maine, or New Hampshire
- Proof of residency is required
Application Process
- Complete and submit the scholarship application form
- Provide proof of admission to an approved institution
- Submit two professional letters of recommendation (not from friends or family) directly to the NECD, Inc.
- Ensure all application fields are completed; incomplete applications will not be considered
- Submit all materials by May 15th at 12:00 PM EST
