Building upon their service to the community and its mission to develop the potential of women, the Junior League of Detroit awards up to ten scholarships each year to female graduating high school seniors, each valued at $1,000. Since 2014 the Junior League of Detroit has awarded over $180,000 in scholarships to students who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to volunteerism in addition to their academic achievements.
Scholarship Details
- Up to ten scholarships awarded annually
- Award amount: $1,000 each
- Scholarship funds are paid directly to the student’s college
- Supports students attending college or vocational school (part-time or full-time)
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a female high school senior in Wayne County, Michigan
- Must plan to continue education at a public/private college or vocational school
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.25
- Must demonstrate commitment to volunteerism and community service
Application Process
- Complete the scholarship application.
- Submit two letters of recommendation (not from family members).
- Provide academic information, including GPA.
- Include details of extracurricular activities, community service, and work experience.
- Respond to the required essay question.
- Submit all materials by the stated deadline.
Students awarded these scholarships are those who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to volunteerism in addition to their academic achievements. Scholarship award checks will be payable to colleges in the students’ names.
