Scholarship Description

The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to Jewish students pursuing undergraduate and graduate studies in helping professions. Administered through scholarship funds from the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, the program supports students with demonstrated financial need and strong career potential.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be Jewish
  • Must have been born and raised in the Chicago metropolitan area, including Lake County, Indiana, or have completed one continuous year of full-time employment in the Chicago metropolitan area before enrollment
  • Must intend to remain in or return to the Chicago metropolitan area after completing school
  • Must be entering an accredited graduate program in a helping profession on a full-time basis for the coming academic year, or entering junior or senior year of an accredited bachelor’s degree program in a helping profession on a full-time basis
  • Must demonstrate financial need and career promise
  • Eligible helping professions may include education, healthcare, law, social service, Jewish communal service, medicine, performing arts, physical sciences, technology, engineering, public policy, and related fields
  • Chicago metropolitan area includes Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties

Application Process

  1. Review the scholarship eligibility requirements and approved helping profession fields
  2. Complete the scholarship application
  3. Prepare and submit all required supporting documents before the March 1st deadline
  4. Provide documentation demonstrating financial need, academic status, and career goals
  5. Contact the scholarship office if clarification is needed regarding helping profession eligibility
  6. Submit the completed application and all materials by the stated deadline
  7. Monitor communications regarding scholarship review and award decisions

We administer educational scholarship funds from the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago to help Jewish college and graduate students offset some of their financial burden.
