Kids’ Chance of Pennsylvania (KCPA) makes a significant difference in the lives of affected Pennsylvania families by providing scholarship support to help eligible students pursue and achieve their higher educational goals.
Scholarship Details
- Scholarships available for eligible students pursuing undergraduate degrees, licenses, or certifications
- Applicable for full-time or part-time enrollment at colleges, universities, trade, or vocational schools
- Funding is available for up to 10 traditional fall/spring semesters
- Scholarship amounts vary based on available funds and student need
- Some top applicants may receive special awards from Scholar Program Sponsors
- Eligible recipients may also access matching educational grants through PATH and PHEAA
Eligibility Criteria
- Custodial parent, stepparent, or guardian must have been killed or seriously injured in a work-related accident covered under the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act
- Incident must have resulted in demonstrated financial need
- Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a postsecondary degree or certificate-granting program
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree, license, or certification
- Must have a high school diploma or GED before scholarship disbursement (high school seniors in dual enrollment may be considered case-by-case)
- Must be no older than 25 years old at the time of award
- Must not have already earned a bachelor’s degree
- Graduate students are ineligible
Application Process
- Confirm eligibility based on family circumstances, age, and educational goals
- Complete the Kids’ Chance of PA scholarship application form
- Provide documentation verifying the work-related injury or death under the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act
- Submit proof of enrollment or acceptance into an eligible postsecondary program
- Include high school diploma/GED or current high school enrollment verification
- Submit any additional required documents for financial need assessment
- Await notification of award and potential eligibility for matching grants through PATH
