Scholarship Description

The purpose of the NSSED Foundation Kinnett Scholarship for College/Further Education is to provide financial assistance for graduating high school seniors to accomplish one of two specific goals: to aid students whose intention is to pursue a college degree in the area of special education; or to aid students receiving special education services to pursue their choice of further education, whether through a college or vocational school. Any graduating senior from an NSSED affiliated high school program who fits one of the aforementioned purposes is eligible to apply.

Students applying for a scholarship are required to submit a completed application, as well as a written essay indicating both the reason that the student deserves to receive the scholarship and the student’s plan for further education. In addition, the students are required to submit: a list of student and community activities in which they have been involved, including service to children and/or families with disabilities; a list of awards or accomplishments; two letters of recommendation, one personal and one from a high school teacher or administrator; and a transcript indicating academic achievement.
