Scholarship Description

This scholarship is designed to support graduating high school seniors who plan to pursue a trade or technical education and are committed to building hands-on skills that strengthen the communities of West Orange and South Lake Counties. At Lake Apopka Natural Gas District, we believe investing in the skilled trades is an investment in our future workforce and the quality of life in the areas we serve.

Scholarship Details

  • Up to $3,000 awarded per recipient
  • Ten scholarships available, with one scholarship designated for each high school in West Orange and South Lake Counties
  • Funds may be used for tuition, books, tools, and other education-related expenses
  • Scholarship funds are paid directly to the institution or reimbursed with proof of expense

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a graduating high school senior with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Must plan to enroll in a trade or technical program at an accredited trade school or two-year college
  • Program of study must be located within the state of Florida
  • Applicants should demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in the skilled trades

Application Process

  1. Complete the online scholarship application form.
  2. Submit an official high school transcript showing your GPA.
  3. Provide two letters of recommendation from a teacher, employer, or supervisor.
  4. Write and submit a 500-word essay explaining why you want to pursue a career in the skilled trades and how you plan to serve your community.
