Scholarship Description

The Lanford Family Highway Worker Memorial Scholarship, offered by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation (ARTBA-TDF), supports the post-secondary education of children of highway workers who were killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty.

Scholarship Details

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be the son, daughter, or legally adopted child of a highway or transportation construction worker
  • The parent must have been killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty
  • Applicant must be attending or planning to attend a post-secondary institution requiring a high school diploma or G.E.D.

Application Process

  1. Visit the ARTBA-TDF website to access the scholarship application
  2. Complete the application form and gather supporting documents
  3. Submit documentation verifying parent’s employment and circumstances of death or disability
  4. Provide proof of enrollment or acceptance into an eligible post-secondary institution
  5. Submit the full application by the program's stated deadline

The applicant must use the scholarship award to attend a post-secondary institution of learning that requires a high school diploma or Graduate Equivalent Degree (G.E.D.) for admission. This could include any public or private: (a) four-year accredited college or university; (b) two-year accredited college; or (c) vocational-technical college or training institution.
