Recipients of The Linda Tirado Scholarship for Photojournalism and Journalism must be Minnesota residents pursuing majors in photojournalism, journalism, or a substantially similar field at a Minnesota-based accredited higher education institution. This is a one-time scholarship of $5000.

Application Process
- Complete the scholarship application form.
- Submit an acceptance letter (for new students) or most recent transcript (for current students).
- Write and submit a 350–500 word essay on one of the provided topics.

Linda Tirado is a photojournalist who was seriously injured while covering the 2020 Minneapolis protests following the murder of George Floyd. While documenting the protests, Minneapolis Police shot her in the eye with a rubber bullet. This resulted in the loss of her eye and has since made her terminally ill.
