The Lithuanian Foundation is a diaspora organization. As such, priorities are given to students studying outside the borders of Lithuania, especially to those who are members of the Lithuanian Foundation, Inc. The candidates for the scholarship will be selected based on their academic merit, leadership potential, demonstrated volunteer engagements in their communities, and especially involvement in Lithuanian community activities.
Scholarship Details

- Seeks to preserve and promote Lithuanian culture and traditions through education.
- Priority is given to U.S. citizens and permanent residents pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate, master's, or doctoral degree within the scholarship's eligible categories.
- Must possess citizenship, permanent residency, or an appropriate visa for the country of study.
Application Process
- Complete the scholarship application in full.
- Attach a recent photograph.
- Provide proof of citizenship, permanent residency, birth certificate, passport, or other acceptable documentation.
- If studying outside your country of citizenship, submit a copy of the required valid student visa. Applicants studying in the United States must also provide a copy of their I-20 form.
- Submit an official transcript showing your current GPA. First-semester university students should provide an official high school transcript.
- Obtain an Official Enrollment Verification Certificate or equivalent document confirming full-time enrollment for the upcoming academic year.
- Secure two recommendation letters written no earlier than the current year, including at least one from a current professor or teacher. Recommendations from family members and friends are not accepted.
- Provide a financial aid award letter from your academic institution showing the total cost of attendance, scholarships, financial aid, and your expected contribution.
- Submit a copy of the most recent FAFSA Student Aid Report page 1 if you are a U.S. resident, or provide equivalent financial documentation required by your institution.
- Review all materials to ensure the application is complete and submit before the deadline.
The Lithuanian Foundation believes that students who are active in their community are developing leadership skills that will benefit them and those around them in the future. The Foundation concentrates its resources on those students who have demonstrated involvement and volunteerism in the Lithuanian community or the community at large. As such, the Lithuanian Foundation strives to ensure the continuity of the Lithuanian culture and traditions by contributing to the development of future leaders in the Lithuanian community.
