Scholarship Description

The Lois Britt Memorial Pork Industry Scholarship supports undergraduate students preparing for careers in agriculture and the pork industry. This program recognizes students who are preparing to make a meaningful contribution to the industry after graduation.

Scholarship Details

  • Ten scholarships of $2,500 are awarded annually
  • The scholarship is sponsored by the National Pork Industry Foundation and administered by the National Pork Producers Council
  • The application essays are evaluated based on clarity and expression, persuasiveness, originality and relevance of the topic

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be current undergraduate students enrolled in a two-year swine program or a four-year college of agriculture.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
  • Applicants should demonstrate characteristics representative of future pork industry leaders

Application Process

  1. Complete a cover sheet that includes your name, school name, year in school, email address, cell phone number and home and school mailing addresses
  2. Submit a brief letter explaining the role that you expect to play in the pork industry after graduation
  3. Submit an essay of 750 words or less describing a current or emerging issue facing the pork industry. The essay should include practical solutions and explain how your intended career or future involvement in the industry will help implement or support those solutions.
  4. Submit two letters of reference from current or former professors or industry professionals
  5. Submit the completed application through the NPPC online form, by email or by mailing all materials together in a single envelope to their listed address
