With this financial support, Scholars have access to post- secondary education in the culinary and/or hospitality fields or special certificate programs for educators or industry professionals. The scholarships are awarded for one time financial assistance. The LRAEF awards five types of scholarships each year. Preference is given to those students who hold the ProStart Certificate of Achievement.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a Louisiana student, educator, or industry professional, depending on the specific scholarship category
- Must demonstrate an interest in pursuing or advancing a career in restaurant, foodservice, tourism, or hospitality fields
- ProStart students who have earned the Certificate of Achievement may receive preference during selection
- Applicants must meet any additional requirements established for individual scholarship programs
- Graduate scholarship applicants must be enrolled in or accepted to qualifying programs as required by the specific award
Application Process
- Review the available scholarship categories and determine eligibility for the desired award
- Complete the scholarship application and provide all requested information
- Submit documentation demonstrating educational enrollment, career goals, and relevant industry involvement
- Provide proof of ProStart Certificate of Achievement if applicable
- Submit any essays, recommendations, or supporting materials required for the specific scholarship
- Complete and submit the application before the designated deadline
- Monitor communications regarding scholarship review and award decisions
Since its inception in 2009, the LRA Education Foundation has awarded over $750,000 through its Scholarship Fund. To further educate ProStart® students, culinary/hospitality students, industry employees, and educators, this financial support has created an annual class of LRAEF Scholars.
