Scholarship Description

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation provides educational funding to children of Marines and other military personnel who have served alongside the U.S. Marine Corps. The program helps military families overcome financial barriers to higher education by offering scholarships to qualified students attending accredited colleges, universities, and career-training institutions. In addition to its general scholarship program, the foundation offers enhanced support through special programs for children of fallen and wounded service members. Through these scholarships, the foundation honors military service while helping students pursue their academic and career goals.

Scholarship Details

  • Supports higher education for children of Marines and qualifying Navy personnel attached to Marine units
  • Available for attendance at accredited schools eligible for federal funding
  • Includes general scholarships based on eligibility and financial need
  • Offers specialized programs for children of fallen and wounded service members
  • Children of the Fallen may receive guaranteed scholarships totaling $30,000 over four years
  • Children of the Wounded may receive up to $40,000 over four years
  • Grandchildren of qualifying military association members may also be eligible through limited-funding programs

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be the child or stepchild of an active-duty, reserve, or honorably discharged veteran Marine
  • May also qualify as the child of an active-duty, reserve, or veteran Navy Corpsman, Chaplain, or Religious Program Specialist who served with a Marine Corps unit
  • Must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need unless applying under the Children of the Fallen program
  • Must attend or plan to attend an accredited institution eligible for federal funding
  • Must submit a complete application and all required documentation by the deadline
  • Military parent or veteran must have received an honorable discharge if no longer serving
  • Federal Service Academy students and students attending ineligible institutions are not eligible

Application Process

  1. Confirm military affiliation eligibility and gather supporting service documentation
  2. Complete the scholarship application and provide academic records demonstrating a minimum 2.0 GPA
  3. Submit financial information demonstrating eligibility, if required for the applicable scholarship category
  4. Provide documentation of school enrollment or admission at an eligible institution
  5. If applying under a special program, submit any required documentation related to a parent’s service, injury, or death
  6. Grandchildren applicants must provide proof of qualifying grandparent association membership
  7. Submit all required materials before the application deadline
