Established in the 1988/1989 academic year, the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) is committed to broadening the range of scholarly perspectives in the US academy, with a focus on the humanities and the humanistic social sciences.
Scholarship Details
- Academic-year stipend: approximately $4,000 per year (junior and senior years)
- Summer research stipend: approximately $4,500 per summer
- Graduate school preparation support: approximately $1,000–$1,300
- Up to $10,000 in undergraduate loan repayment for fellows entering eligible PhD programs
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be enrolled at an MMUF member institution
- Must be a rising junior undergraduate student
- Must be pursuing studies in the humanities or humanistic social sciences
- Must demonstrate interest in pursuing a PhD and academic career
- Must show commitment to increasing diversity in higher education
