The Richard H. Pierce Memorial Scholarship supports Maine students who need financial assistance to pursue a college education. Awards are renewable for up to four years, depending on the student's grade level, provided renewal requirements are met. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress to continue receiving funding.
Scholarship Details
- Twenty $5,000 renewable scholarships are awarded

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a Maine resident entering the first year of post-secondary education
- Must demonstrate financial need.
- Must complete at least 12 credits each semester
- Must demonstrate academic achievement and community involvement
Application Process
- Create an account with the MES Foundation
- Complete the scholarship application through the online portal
- Provide academic records, including transcripts and any required test scores
- Obtain and submit two letters of recommendation
- Write and submit a personal essay of at least 300 words
This scholarship was established in honor of MES founder, Dick Pierce who passed away in 2011. It was Dick's life-long commitment to promote higher education. The number and size of the scholarships are determined annually by the MES Foundation Board of Directors.
